May: Celebrating You Through Creativity & Community

This month we wanted to take a moment to celebrate all the incredible people we get to create, connect and grow with through our projects and community spaces.

From young people bravely sharing their voices, to creative confidence growing, new friendships forming and spaces being transformed through art, this month has been full of meaningful moments that remind us why creativity matters so much.

Bloom Short Film Launch

One of the biggest highlights this month has been the launch of our Bloom short film, created by SNG, who funded Bloom through their Thriving Communities Fund.

The film captures the creativity, joy and connection growing through these free community pop-ups in nature, and we’ll also be sharing a series of short spotlight videos celebrating the young people who took part.

A huge shout out to Jack, George and Piper whose voices and creativity beautifully capture the spirit of Bloom. See their amazing interviews below…

“It’s important to get children involved with nature. It’s only fair that everyone gets a chance to see what they are missing if they are on their phones.” — Jack

Coming Up – Bloom Creative Pop-Up 🌿✨

Our next Bloom session is inspired by crystals, colour and reflective light, with free crystals to take home while they last. 🌸

Moments of Joy & Re-Imagining Spaces 🎨

We’re getting ready to launch the next chapter of our Moments of Joy public art project, with a brand new location announcement coming soon.

Recently we were deeply moved by feedback from Dani at MHN, who shared that the mural project completely changed the energy of the space, helping it feel safer, calmer and more welcoming for the community using it.

This is exactly why these projects matter so much to us.

At the heart of my own creative practice is a desire to re-imagine community spaces and bring beauty, creativity and joy back into everyday places through colour, painting and shared creativity.

Because art should exist for everyone to enjoy. ✨

Creative Climate Champions

In our school sessions, young people have been exploring single use plastic and re imagining materials. They’ve been thinking about how discarded items can become something new, while beginning to design and re imagine their own clothing.

It’s been inspiring to see ideas develop through experimentation, colour and personal expression.

"It's her favourite thing each month. She hasn't taken her badge off and it has really helped her grow in creative confidence."

Creative Me & Spotlight on Lydia Creates

Our Creative Me group has been preparing for the upcoming One Planet Abingdon fashion show, and we’re so proud of the creativity and confidence shown by the young people involved.

A special celebration goes to Lydia, who has shown such amazing growth while presenting her collection and creative ideas inspired by nature and individuality.

Hospital Sessions

This month also marked the end of my residency with Thursday Club, and it’s been such an incredible experience.

Together we created colourful artwork for the garden space inspired by nature, texture and joy, and I’ll truly miss the wonderful patients and team who made the experience so special. A particular shout out to Eve!

Bright Hearts & Celebrating Izzy

At Bright Hearts we’ve continued to see beautiful intergenerational connection grow through creativity and conversation.

This month we especially wanted to celebrate Izzy, whose warm and welcoming presence has helped everyone feel comfortable, included and connected within the group.

One Planet Abingdon Fashion Show

We’re so excited to share that a collection of re-imagined fashion pieces from across our creative programmes over the past 5 years will be walking the runway at the upcoming One Planet Abingdon Fashion Show.

The collection brings together creative work developed through Creative Me, Creative Climate Champions, youth workshops and pieces from the Life Styling archives, celebrating sustainable fashion, individuality and creative self-expression.

From hand painted clothing and re-imagined denim to wearable art and character-inspired designs, the collection reflects years of creativity, confidence building and young people exploring their unique voices through fashion and art.

We can’t wait to see the collection come to life on the runway.

A Fresh New Look For Life Space Project

We’ve also been celebrating the new branding for the Life Space Project CIC, helping reflect the creativity, warmth and playful energy at the heart of our community work.

I’ve also been sharing more of my own creative journey and reflections through a fun visual journal inside our creative community updates, exploring the growing inspiration behind Moments of Joy, re-imagined spaces and art that transforms how a place feels through colour, creativity and connection.
